Operation Wallacea
The reality of your Operation Wallacea expedition is now developing, your excitement is mounting, and questions are forming in your mind. We believe that many of those questions can be answered (and maybe some new ones developed!) on a pre-expedition camping trip-‘Try B4U Go!’
The 2 day expedition will enable you to experience living alongside your team-mates, try out some of your kit, sample the food that the local people eat, check out what you really need- and what can be left behind.
Addventure Awards Ltd organise these pre-expedition training sessions. We supply tent, stove, and all food for your overnight camp, along with experienced overseas expedition leaders. You will be away for 2 full days in the area of your choice.
These local expeditions are offered to give you an opportunity to totally immerse yourself in the expedition way of life, ask all those questions, break in/try out your kit, and develop your ‘expedition attitude’. It’s all going to take place outside and we would love you to come along- bring an open mind.
What we offer
Bring the kit you intend to take overseas, especially footwear
Meet 08.30 Saturday morning.
Introductory briefing, kit check and distribution of camping equipment and food.
Depart for expedition 09.30
During the day we will discuss a variety of topics, including navigation, risk assessments, and emergency actions,
At lunchtime we will make a warm drink on the hill
Continue to our remote campsite, erect tents (with help), make a substantial meal (using similar food to that which you will encounter on your overseas expedition). Chat through evening wear, bites, bugs and creepy crawlies. Free time.
Sunday
We will leave camp about 08.30 for day 2 of your expedition- during the day we will have the opportunity to discuss any questions about your chosen destination, practice your navigation, and get more mentally and physically prepared for your big adventure.
We will have individual de-briefs and close around 5 pm.
