National Navigation Award Scheme
NNAS Training
This scheme provides training and assessment for adults, to a nationally recognised standard of personal performance in navigation skills. The scheme adopts a step ladder approach to learning.
Awards:
Young Navigation Star Awards
A junior version of the NNAS, specifically developed for the primary / secondary school pupil. It complements certain areas of the National Curriculum and is ideally suited to the classroom / school grounds situation. It encourages young people to actively explore the outdoors and develop skills particular to their enviroment. The scheme offers a certificate and badge as a permanent record of success.
Awards:
Bronze Star
Map concepts, symbols, draw a map, follow a route.
Silver Star
Compass for direction, follow a map and travel along a specific route. Ideally suited to some work outside in the school grounds.
Gold Star
Follow features, plan simple routes for each other, combine use of map and compass with an introduction to contour lines.
Addventure Awards Ltd is able to provide training and assessment for these awards. The Star Award scheme can be run by teaching staff; we can assist with setting up local programs.
