Expedtion Training
Addventure Awards Ltd. holds an AALA license to offer hill walking and mountaineering services to young people in all areas of the UK without restriction.
This is ideally suited to the supply of the specialized expedition training required by D of E candidates or as pre-trip training for those who have chosen to partake of overseas adventure travel.
Our instructors are all experienced, fully qualified mature professionals located throughout the UK, many are International Mountain Leaders who are familiar with the requirements of these activities. Everyone within our organization holds an enhanced CRB disclosure, a valid first aid qualification and is prepared to go that ‘ extra mile’ to ensure the success of your venture. We are aware that it is YOUR VENTURE, we intend to support you in achieving your goal, not impress our ideas upon you !
What we offer
We are aware that historically the majority of this type of training has been run by volunteers and friends, most of whom were experienced in supplying this training. Our aim as a commercial supplier of expedition training is not to undermine this ethos, but to support it by offering whatever additional services you may require to supplement those available within your organization. All of our instructors are qualified to NGB standards and have the skills, experience and professionalism to deliver to an exceptionally high standard.
Groups:
We are able to provide whatever level of expedition support you require, from onsite classroom training within schools to remote safety cover in wild country areas. We maintain a stock of lightweight group camping equipment which is available for hire when using our staff. Most groups choose to manage the pastoral care of the young people themselves. Transport requirements of young people are the responsibility of the school, parent or guardian, we do not normally become involved in the provision of transport.
Individuals:
We offer expedition training to individuals and small groups, however for costing purposes we require these individuals / small groups to combine with others if you wish Addventure to arrange your accommodation. However if you have access to a local venue that has facilities to cater for smaller numbers or Youth Hostel style accommodation would be acceptable we can readily respond to your requirements, please enquire by email.
Accommodation
Our ‘home base’ is a 17th Century Pennine farmhouse that was converted into an activity centre some 25 years ago. It can sleep a maximum of 36 students in bunk bedded dormitory style accommodation, with indoor and outdoor recreation areas. All meals are produced on site, whenever possible using locally sourced ingredients. Once on site transport requirements are minimal, all training activities start at the front door. On site parking is available for a limited number of vehicles. Road access and support facilities are good. The centre is staffed 24 /7 when students are on site.
